Chalcocite an overview ScienceDirect Topics

The separation of chalcocite (Cu 2 S) and heazlewoodite (Ni 3 S 2) from high nickel matte can be achieved by maintaining the proper pH and pulp potential while using xanthates as collectors. The flotation recovery of Cu 2 S and Ni 3 S 2 has been studied by adjusting the oxidationreduction potential of the flotation pulp with (NH 4 ) 2 S 2 O 8 and KMnO 4 .

Lime use and functionality in sulphide mineral flotation

Richardson and Walker (1985) showed that the flotation of chalcocite bornite chalcopyrite and pyrite with potassium ethyl xanthate is controlled by the conditioning redox potential (Eh). The active surface entities were found to be metal xanthates for chalcocite and bornite dixanthogen for pyrite metal xanthate for initial flotation of chalcopyrite and dixanthogen for full flotation.

Collectorless flotation of Chalcocite by controlling redox

Using microflotation method this study explored the collectorless flotation of Chalcocite and its dependence on the redox potential of pulp . Electrochemical studies were performed by cyclic voltammetry in specific potential ranges and at different pH values. The results show that significant floatability of Chalcocite occurs in the specific reducing conditions.

Selective flotation of chalcopyrite from pyrite

Flotation results showed that the selective flotation of pyrite from galena can be achieved under the preferred reagent scheme i.e. 400 g/t chitosan (10 kDa) 1600 g/t ethyl xanthate and 100 g

A Review of the Flotation of Copper Minerals

Modifiers are chemicals used extensively in flotation to modify the action of the collector making collector action more selective towards certain m inerals [ 3 7] . Modifiers can be classed as

In many plants lime is employed as a pH modifier as well as for the depression of pyrite during the cleaning operation. The flotation pH in most of the plants is above 10 and most often over 11. The relatively high pH used in the operating plants is not designed to depress pyrite but rather as a frother modifier. In reality the higher pH

This branch of chemicals will prepare the mineral surface so other reagents will be able to collect the metal. For Conditioners and Modifiers it may be simply cleaning the surface of the particles as in the case of removing oxidization or it may be a chemical that these are the chemicals that bind the mineral to the air bubble to be lifted away from the waste. Activators will attach itself
